Meet Some of Our Team Leads

Nick Callagher
Managing Director

Nick is a visionary leader with a wide range of engineering disciplines. Nick started Vertex in 2011 with a vision in mind ‘design innovation + engineering excellence’.

With a solid reputation in the delivery of Materials Handling, Packaging and Process Engineering projects, Vertex has become one of the fastest growing innovative Dairy and Consumer Foods engineering companies in New Zealand. This foundation has attracted some of the best engineers in Australasia and gives clients confidence and assurance that their projects are a success.

Nick continues to work with his team personally to provide visionary leadership, engineering support and is key when it comes to client relationships as he has a passion for people.


Eric Wisse
General Manager

Eric is a strategic and entrepreneurial minded Senior Executive and Engineer, with 30 years of experience.

Leading Vertex Engineers as General Manager is invigorating and exciting – in the last year we doubled in size, and developed a process and environmental business by attracting top engineers and project managers.

In November 2018 we were recognised at the Deloitte Fast 50 as the fastest growing manufacturing business in New Zealand. A testament to our development in delivering outstanding solutions in industrial and municipal settings, and a reflection of the importance we place on client relationships.


Russell Stevens
Principal Process Engineer

Russell is a Process Engineer with extensive experience in all aspects of dairy industry processes. He has experience in sanitary process design, project management, site supervision and commissioning.

He has been involved with many of the projects involving the processing of dairy fats, oil blends, fractionation of fats, butter and butter oil production in New Zealand within the last 30 years.

He has undertaken several confidential projects for dairy companies, including working collaboratively with researchers to scale up processes for commercial production. He has led teams of Process, Mechanical and Electrical Engineers, and Designers.


Robin Knowles
Engineering Manager – Process and Electrical

Robin is a Process and Mechanical Engineer with extensive experience in design and construction support within the water/ wastewater, Dairy, Winery and other industrial sectors.

Robin has design lead and discipline lead dairy, water/wastewater projects from New Zealand and Australia to all parts of the world, through his consultancy and contracting background.

He has experiences in both the public and private sector working from client, to consultant design lead, Design Manager roles within construction projects, and construction management support, making Robin a versatile team member and leader.


Wayne Norman
Principal Project Manager

Wayne is a Project Manager with wide-ranging experience in all aspects of dairy industry processing, packing, project management and commissioning.

He has been involved with projects in the dairy and food industries in New Zealand for the last 40 years. These projects have included the complete process installation of infant formula manufacture, dairy fats and oils, and various process to packing lines.

Wayne is heavily involved with site supervision being responsible for the control and movement of material and resources. He is “hands on” when it comes to commissioning.


Rod Walker
Principal Automation and Electrical Engineer

Rod has 20 years of experience in industrial projects. In the last 10 years his role has encompassed Head Electrical Engineer on multi-disciplined projects and Project Manager on smaller, electrical only projects.

His design knowledge ranges from 400V to field control integration with automation systems and instrumentation. With major design/build experience, he excels in taking a project from inception through to completion with full documentation.


Olga Khramenko
Supply Chain Manager

Olga has 16 years’ experience in the Machines and Mechanisms Manufacturing Industry. She is skilled in working with technical documentation and engineering drawings.

Olga has wide experiences in the supply chain field. She is methodical and well organised. Her attention to detail and skills in optimisation helps her to maintain a high level of work efficiency. She is always open to gaining new experiences and skills.

Olga enjoys working in a team and is a reliable team player.


Daniel Delgado
Operations Manager

Daniel has worked in small companies with a wide range of responsibilities in New Zealand and in Spain.

His study in a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering in Marine Design has given him a broad range of skills and a wide knowledge foundation. He enjoys being part of different projects and the challenge that goes with each varied solution.

Daniel ensures that Vertex fabrication gets done on-time and meets customers’ expectations.


Peter Harrison
Principal Process Design Engineer

Peter has 25 years’ experience in the New Zealand dairy industry working on a wide range of projects from initial concepts right through to commissioned plants – specialising in process piping and customizing cad software for efficiency gains.

He enjoys problem solving and taking an idea and turning it into reality. He works to a high standard enjoys being part of a team.


Daniel King
Financial Operations Manager

Daniel is a Chartered Accountant and has 20+ years’ experience in management and cost accountancy. He has experience in providing decision useful management information and has developed and refined budget models to accurately predict outcomes based on budget assumptions.

Daniel works collaboratively with operations managers to provide meaningful reporting and proposals. He has led the development of management information databases to provide timely and uniform information to stakeholders.

Daniel provides support for projects in financial management including costing, analysis and reviews.
